Minutes of Previous MeetingAmended to note Marilyn MacDonald was present and Bill Matheson had sent
regrets, and replace the month of April with May in Financial report.
Motion to approve as amended made by Alan Turner, seconded by Kent Murray.
Carried.
Committee Reports
Financial ReportReport to end of May noting total expenditure and revenue for the year
to date was tabled by Alan Turner. In May 2007 revenue totaled
6445 with 4980 of this figure derived from individual memberships. The
total expenditure for the month was 11135. In May 2006 these figures were
revenue 11992 and expenditure 14244. Motion to approve report made by
Alan Turner, seconded by Bill Matheson. Carried.

Technical CommitteeEd Dyer noted that doubling the mailbox size had no negative technical
effects and the change satisfied many users. During the wireless testing
earlier today Andrew Wright and Johnathan Thibodeau got a clear connection
in the parking lot off Clyde Street, about 530 meters from Fenwick Place.
Johnathan made a breakthrough late this afternoon, he now has a
functioning prototype for the node computer.
Discussion on Wifi program and publicity initially focused on additional
testing and the timing for implementing Spencer House and two adjacent
nodes, and then moved on to which city councillors and what media might be
contacted. 1 August was set as a target date for installation of the
initial node at Spencer House and perhaps the related two as well. More
thought/work are required re both publicity and funding.

Other Business
Contact with others working on wirelessBernie will get back to Steven Chan from the Vancouver Community Network
in order to set up a teleconference with people in the other cities
(Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal) soon after the "wireless cities" conference
so that Steven will be able to share the conference outcome with everyone.

Resource Recovery Fund BoardBill Matheson was put forward as our representative. He tried to contact
Cathy McCarthy at RRFB but to date has had no response.

Follow-up meeting with AGM group leadersMembers felt it might useful to have a discussion and suggested that a
time and date be set for a meeting of all Board members, people who acted
as discussion leaders at the AGM and some other people who are known to be
interested. Feasible meeting time to be discuss at next meeting.

Organizational members contactAbout 16% of the members are organizations. Those present thought it
would be useful to contact executives or webmasters of the organizations
using Chebucto. Good relations with organizational members should reap
more individual members for Chebucto. In order to test the idea that
contacting organizations could give a Chebucto a stronger profile with
them and their members Andrew will provide Mary with several names, she
will followup and report back at the next meeting.

Office spaceThe CCN office does not have much space for node development work. Two
of three members will look into options for needed space and report back
at the next meeting.

Web camUndertaking extra work focusing on the web cam during the Tall Ships
festival does not seem to make sense this year. The webcam cannot by
accessed as easily as it could be before and public interest is not
as apparent as in previous years.

PublicityHow can we access community organizations in order to make contacts for
node development? This discussion brought out several names and areas in
Halifax. Work needs to be done in this area.
Publicity for Wifi is vital. How can we build an awareness? How do we make
connections? Public awareness is needed. Are there community associations,
etc. we can work with?

Maybe CCN's 13th birthday can be noted at CBC's 37th Information Morning
party at Pier 21 Friday June 29, 6-9 am? Bernie will contact John McKay to
see if there is any opportunity for us there.

Next Board Meeting:Next Board meeting Thursday July 12, 6:30 pm.Next Executive meeting Thursday June 28, 5:30 pm.

Meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm
